The India Quantum Mission aims to position India as a global leader in quantum technologies, with the government allocating ₹6,003 crore toward the initiative. Anchored by premier institutions and industry collaboration, the mission seeks to develop indigenous quantum processors, secure communication networks, and advanced sensors over an eight-year timeline. The Minister noted that the Mission aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of India becoming a tech-driven knowledge economy.

Strategic partnerships between academia, startups, and global firms are encouraged as part of a broader public-private ecosystem. Scindia also pointed to India’s rise in the Global Innovation Index and the country’s active startup landscape as indicators that the nation is ready to lead the coming quantum era.
