RackBank Powers Up: India’s AI Data Center Boom Begins

India’s AI Infrastructure Gets a Power Boost

RackBank, a leading India-based data hosting provider, has announced plans to build a $900 million AI-focused data center park in Madya Pradesh. With ambitions to create a hyperscale facility of approximately 150 MW, the center will specifically cater to workloads driven by artificial intelligence, tapping into the skyrocketing demand for computing power. This move underscores India’s push to become a digital-first economy, with RackBank positioning itself as a key player in building the country’s AI backbone. The company will also incorporate sustainability by sourcing energy from renewable and green sources over time.

A Homegrown Challenger Steps Into the Global Ring

While hyperscale data centers have traditionally been dominated by Western giants like AWS and Microsoft Azure, RackBank’s foray into large-scale AI infrastructure presents an indigenous contender in the global market. With construction anticipated to start later this year, the project is expected to generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs, while helping elevate India’s stature as a global data hub. By focusing on GPU-heavy AI workloads rather than conventional cloud hosting, RackBank is pivoting toward next-gen compute demand—marking a bold step in becoming an AI infrastructure leader from within Asia.
