Alice.Tech Aces $4.8M Raise with ‘Duolingo for Exams’ Vision

Gamifying the Grind

Alice.Tech, a rising Indian edtech startup, has raised $4.8 million in pre-Series A funding by branding itself as the “Duolingo for exams.” Founded by IIT alumni, the company aims to disrupt test prep in India—where student competition is fierce—by offering engaging, short-form learning modules. By mimicking Duolingo’s gamified interface and reward mechanics, Alice.Tech claims it makes test prep more interactive, less anxiety-inducing, and ultimately more effective. The platform primarily targets aspirants for major Indian exams like the IIT JEE and NEET, tapping into a market projected to exceed $10 billion in the coming years.

Backed by Metrics—and Memes

What helped seal the deal with investors? Alice.Tech’s pitch deck highlighted impressive early traction: over 120,000 students onboarded, more than 30 minutes average daily engagement, and viral marketing via TikTok-style meme content. Their user-first design leans on behavioral science and snackable video lessons, resembling Netflix binges more than textbook marathons. Investors were also drawn to the low customer acquisition costs and promising unit economics. With fresh funding, Alice.Tech plans to scale its content library, onboard more educators, and expand to new exam categories across India’s diverse and demanding academic landscape.
