SAP and AWS Double Down on AI for Business
Enterprise AI, Now in Fast-Forward
SAP and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have announced a joint AI co-innovation program aimed at helping customers accelerate their adoption of enterprise-grade generative AI. The initiative, unveiled at SAP Sapphire 2024, builds on the companies’ long-standing partnership and intends to embed AI deeply into SAP’s cloud portfolio. Leveraging SAP’s industry-specific process knowledge and data models alongside AWS’s AI and machine learning infrastructure, the program focuses on developing intelligent business solutions tailored to real-world challenges. Selected customers will participate directly in co-developing applications, ensuring practical relevance and early access to next-generation capabilities. As generative AI becomes a strategic priority for digital transformation, this collaboration promises to streamline deployment and reduce the time to value.
Turning AI Ambition Into Operational Impact
The program will initially target SAP Business Technology Platform components running on AWS infrastructure, tapping into services like Amazon Bedrock and AWS Trainium. Both partners aim to address core business needs—from customer service automation to supply chain intelligence—by integrating large language models with enterprise workflows. Customers involved in the initiative will benefit from early engagement, priority access, and direct input into product features, shaping AI outcomes to their specific verticals. “We’re enabling customers to augment critical business processes with AI, not just experiments,” said Judy Fang Bates, VP at AWS. With cloud-native scalability and data compliance at the forefront, SAP and AWS are positioning themselves as leaders in the race to make enterprise AI both usable and trustworthy.
